How Shlomo acquired KP's Nocode Hub ✅
The first product sold via our directory at nocodesale.com
Hello No-Code neighbors 👋
While we’re preparing for the next No-Code Garage Sale, we really enjoy hearing the stories from the sellers and buyers of the products that are sold already. How did the makers came up with the idea initially? And why did the new owners acquire this? 👀
Sharing today: Nocode Hub, created by KP.
Before I finally started using No-Code tools myself, I was a long time lurker on No-Code Twitter and Product Hunt. One of the makers I’ve been following there for years now is KP: an active participant in the early days of No-Code who inspired many others afterwards, and a big advocate of building in public.
Fast forwarding to 2023 it’s an honour for me that KP is among the first group of sellers of No-Code Sale. And not only that: Nocode Hub, KP’s old build, became the first product sold via the directory launched at the end of the first No-Code Garage Sale 🎉
Time for an interview with KP and the new owner: Shlomo Freund 😀
Congrats Shlomo 🥳
Were you specifically looking for something like this, or did you just stumbled upon it?
Thank you Harold. I was not specifically looking for something about this topic (No-Code), however I am always interested in content websites. I buy, grow and sell websites. So I’m always looking for opportunities.
That’s why I was curious about the No-Code Garage Sale after I read about that in Katt Risen’s newsletter. It sounded like a great opportunity to find gems, which I happened to find in the directory you shared at the end of the event 😃
What I liked about this product (Nocode Hub) is the traction it already had, its domain name and the branding. This is also because the product is created by KP. He has a good following and name in the No-Code world, so that adds to the branding 🙂
Nice catch 😃
Congrats to you too KP 🎉
How did you came up with the idea for this hub?
Thanks!
As an active participant in the No-Code space I’ve always been tracking the No-Code movement closely. In 2019, when I created this, there weren’t many available avenues to look for inspiration as a No-Code Maker. So I wanted to build an Unsplash for No-Code and highlight key projects and makers.
I saw a lot of potential for a platform like this. Business wise, I wanted to reach out to no-code platforms themselves like Bubble, Webflow, and later Softr etc., to have sponsored ads by them. I also thought I could do affiliating deals with many tools.
What changed after that?
I was at a full time boring corporate job at that time. As a non-technical person, I hated not being able to build and ship, so that’s why I got started learning No-Code on the side. I’ve built about 3 or 4 other projects and Nocode Hub, but then it got super busy at my job.
Eventually I quit my job there and joined On Deck, to build the No-Code Fellowship. In the mean time I also started my podcast. Which means I was hustling so much that I didn’t have time for my small side projects, like Nocode Hub. So I was happy to list it for sale when you invited me for this 🙂
And now Shlomo can revive your old build ♻️
Are you planning to make any changes Shlomo?
I think I can grow this into an interesting directory business and a newsletter perhaps. So that’s where I’m going to focus on, by adding more No-Code project listings and turn those in a newsletter.
For the directory I think it will be easier for us to do that in Softr, than in Webflow. So we are probably going to move it there. I have a Virtual Assistant who helps me with my projects, and although we both don’t know a lot about No-Code yet we said we’re going to learn this together 💪
We do know a lot about growing websites though. So once the new page is up and running, we will build it out into a great resource for No-Coders. Perhaps we will re-launch it on Product Hunt too then. Any support from the community with this would be great 😊
Following from your experience,
do you have any last advice for Shlomo now he’s taking Nocode Hub over from you KP?
Please continue to build in public 😃
Mainly on Twitter, but also on Indie Hackers etc. This will help you to learn where the community wants this project to go, and what growth opportunities exist.
And that will be great for us to follow too 🤗
If you’re curious too, you can follow Shlomo on Twitter.
And talking about building in public: KP just launched his Build in Public Founder’s Manual and the Build in Public Fellowship.
The next sale 🪧
On February 22 we’re hosting the second edition of the No-Code Garage Sale.
Are you interested in buying a small No-Code product too?
Out of the box 📦
Thinking out loud:
Which questions should we add for the next interview?
