How Hazel and HustleGPT built and sold Savage Cards
And sold it after our last No-Code Sale event π
Hey there π
Today you can read all about the exciting journey of Hazel in March, giving ChatGPT a $1 budget to build a startup to sell for $500 at the No-Code Sale on March 29th.
With success! The product she built got acquired by Southin π₯³
In the mean time, Hazel and ChatGPT (HustleGPT) already started working on their next collaboration, to build to exit in June.
But before we dive in..
ποΈ Next week is the last Wednesday of the month, and you know what that means.. π
π¦ The next No-Code Garage Sale is on April 26th, with Doc Williams

Congrats with your exit Hazel π
Thanks π But I couldnβt have don this without my co-founder!
Such a cool story!
Yeah, it was a lot of fun π
I was participating your Build To Sell Challenge for No-Code Sale and wanted to give this a try together with ChatGPT, or EntrepreneurGPT as I called it. I shared this on Twitter, and my thread blew up.
Receiving so many encouragements along the way was super cool π€
And collaborating with my co-founder worked really well too.
How did you come up with this idea?
It was mainly just an experiment. I have always been into running experimental projects. Previously I did this for a corporate venture studio I worked for, and now as part of the personal venture studio Iβm setting up.
To kick off my personal projects, I participated in the No-Code MVP Bootcamp in February. This is where we met each other. When I saw your tweet about the Build To Sell Challenge I figured that would be a great opportunity to keep the momentum after the course and experiment.
Then I remembered an article that I saw in a newspaper a decade ago. It was about someone who created a business that sends rude greeting cards. I run this by my co-founder and they liked it too π Thatβs how Savage Cards is born.
It definitely is a fun idea, congrats on acquiring this Southin π
Thanks Harold π
Yeah, itβs funny indeed π But I also believe it can really work as a product too, bringing a smile to people. I also liked the simplicity of the product, and the story behind it of course. Very cool how Hazel built this with ChatGPT.

Which opportunities do you see for it, as the new owner?
I think a lot of people like to send funny stuff around. So I think thereβs an opportunity here to reach a lot of people, which I want to use to grow the current user base and email list. With this I can monetize by connecting to a print on demand service. In addition to that, I plan to add sponsorship and a subscription to send cards later. Ideally, I want to turn this into a niche brand.
Do you plan to change anything to the product?
I already did. I moved the product from the No-Code tools Hazel built to a simple tech stack. It was perfect for a prototype, to attract the first traffic, but this will give me more flexibility and also cuts the costs of the subscriptions Iβd need. You can find this on savagecards.co.
After this I want to add subscription and sponsorship features on the site. I submitted Savage Cards as part of my Buildspace Nights & Weekends S3 project and will add more features along the way.
How do you plan to grow Savage Cards?
The plan is to do marketing like crazy. Via Twitter, Facebook, Reddit, and relevant communities Iβll try to spread the word of mouth. Maybe in combination with some paid advertising later, but before I start with that I want to try a couple of other things on the platforms first to market the product.
My focus to is get attention and usage while keeping the price as low as I can.
And what are your next steps Hazel?
I really enjoyed the collaboration with HustleGPT, so Iβm going for another round with my co-founder π
Inspired by Kyle MacDonald, the guy who turned a paperclip into a house in 2005, Iβm going to re-invest this $500 into the next project aiming to sell that for an exit of $5.000. And then again to $20.000, etc. I call this my Startup Paperclip Project.
Iβm doing this as part of the Build to Exit Challenge that started this week. The idea for this that Iβm currently exploring is a solution for AI guided audio walking tours.
My goal is to sell the project by the end at a special HustleGPT Sale we are organizing together π
Iβll be building this in public again, so you can follow follow all steps on Twitter if youβre interested in our second adventure π
Super cool!
Thanks for sharing both, and good luck! π
